Will this Buffer Work for Detailing my Car?
Random Orbit Waxer/Polisher – A tool sometimes passed down from your family from a person who enjoyed maintaining their vehicle.
A common question we receive is about how to get started and use this polisher that they were given. Most of the time the “polisher” they were given is unusable for paint correction and we like to call them a “wax spreader”.
The Wax Spreader
A “wax spreader” is a tool that usually has removal bonnets that cover the pad that touches your vehicles paint. Often times, the polisher comes with multiple bonnets for polishing and waxing. Ignore everything on the box and understand that this tool isn’t very useful in the detailing community. We will compare this product to a fellow orange/black painted product…the Griot’s Garage 6″ Random Orbital Polisher.

Conclusion
The Black & Decker “Polisher” does not have the speed nor pads to be able to correct paint to the same level that the Griot’s Garage Polisher can. The price difference reflects this as well. The Griot’s Garage Polisher is a great tool and even comes with a lifetime warranty. If you are considering looking for a polisher, please consider investing in a polisher that will actually give you results.
